![]() | Camille Neilson (Vocals, lyrics) The first time I can remember wanting to play music was when I was 8 years old. I got my first guitar then and later picked up the violin. I also had a great love for singing and writing my own songs. I have had many musical influences and continue to be influenced by new musicians all the time. I’ve been with TooMuchFiction since September 2006 and have enjoyed learning with and from my other bandmates. I never thought I’d be getting to fulfill one of my childhood dreams and it’s a wonderful thing. I enjoy playing shows and meeting the people that come out to hear our music. You all make it fun and that’s why I do it. |
![]() | Kevin Collins (Electric Guitar, Guitar Synth, Acoustic Guitar, Lyrics) Music is the purest art. It has the ability to span generations. Music can touch and move people of the most diverse interests and backgrounds with a single, well placed note. It can bring joy, sadness, anger and ecstacy. I am very proud and happy that I have the opportunity to attempt my art with the people in my band. Whether another person is ever moved is secondary, as it moves me to create it and perform it. I have been highly influenced by a very broad range of music - too broad to go into details. I do have to recognize that both Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani are responsible for leading my musical journey from harder music to its current result. These two men seemingly can play just about any type of music with both dedication and inspiring capability, and I strive to follow their course. While the music we perform does not allow me the freedom to pursue the instrumental aspect at that level, I get just as much satisfaction from playing the perfect chords to support the vocals. |
![]() | Pat Stanley (Electronic and Acoustic drums, Percussion, Lyrics, Backing Vocals) of all the years of touring and gigging when i was younger, i never thought that i would be where i am today. the work and passion that we have put into this project deals with what makes music special to me. meeting kevin all those years ago was a blessing to my life. as we worked on diferent versions of this "too much fiction" several things came to life. our passion for music, our love of friends and family and a drive to create a smooth-polished sound that could be appreciated by the masses. i have spent too many years learning this craft....to not use it in some way. TooMuchFiction is a piece of art......ever changing, ever consistant, hard to identify..........and thats what you should expect. don't try to put us in a box, 'cause we're likely to paint it purple and blow it up. sit back and enjoy the music, i know i do. |
![]() | Ron VanH (Electric guitar, Acoustic guitar) I'm a Canadian, eh? But the rest of the band tries not to hold it against me :) My first instrument (if we discount the recorder) was the trumpet, which led to early musical experiences in Concert and Jazz bands and symphony orchestras. In high school I took up guitar, playing in rock musical productions with a youth group. Over the years I studied finger-style acoustic, flamenco, classical and rock guitar styles. After coming to Sacramento I began playing in the Skip's Weekend Warriors program with a succession of bands and eventually linking up with the other members to create FaultZone which played around the area for the past 3 years. I look forward to filling in the TooMuchFiction sound with clean rhythm and fingerstyle riffs. |
![]() | Fred Schmidt (Bass) I started playing music when I was very young, and it has become a large part of my life. After learning several instruments, I settled on the bass guitar (quite by accident) as my main instrument, as it closely fit my personality: in the background, steady, supportive, speaking up only when it had something important to say. Now I feel that Ive come full circle, and my playing style has also taken on my other personality traits: a little goofy here and there, a little bit eccentric. I love any music that is emotional and from the heart. I feel this is the true purpose of the art of music. Im influenced musically by everything I hear. My early bass influences were Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney, John Deacon, and Derek Jones, who I was fortunate enough to study under. |
